I chose to take this class because I have always enjoyed movies that pertain to food. My favorite one would probably be the movie “Julie and Julia”. I’m pretty sure that movie is actually the first one I saw that was mainly about food. I have also always loved Julia Child so it was cool to be able to watch a movie that portrayed her life. I also chose to take this class because I have had Dr. Esa as a professor before here at McDaniel College and I really liked his teaching style a lot so that made me want to take another class that was taught by him. Another movie about food that I really enjoyed was actually “The Hundred Foot Journey”. This is the movie we watched on our first day of class and I had no idea what it was about before we went to watch it, but now it is definitely one of my favorite films about food mainly because of the premise/storyline and because of the setting. It is also one of my favorites now because it was about a lower income family that moved to France and actually did really well for themselves which was super inspiring to me. I also love France so that definitely helped a little bit. In this course, I hope to accomplish many different things. One of the things I really want to accomplish is having a better appreciation for movies that I might not know at all or just know a little bit about. This is because I did not think that I would like the first movie as much as I did. That being said, I want to give every movie a chance before I think that I won’t like it. I also want to accomplish a greater understanding of different cultures around the world because I do not often think about other cultures and how much they are affected by food.
This is a very good reflection, Mary-Beth. However, please spice up your blog by adding images and videos.
